well, i just stumbled over your blog, and i quite enjoyed reading it.

i have passed 5 weeks in japan this summer, too, and totally understand your cultural shock!
especially since my country is somewhat famous for being nice to tourists and rude to everyone else...

Yu-San! Yes, the driving in Japan seems a little crazy... particularly seeing how everyone seems to drive in small streets that seem suitable only for people walking! I already miss the food, though... :(

I'm sure by the now you've adjusted back to life in Boston... and may be you're feeling this way too, but I must say, it feels good to be an acceptable "individual" again.. haha. No worries. Knowing you, there are lots of good times ahead (esp since you're amidst our awesome group of friends ;P ), and seriously, before you know it Omar-san, we'll be back in Japan in no time. You know it's going down. We're living in Nara in the future. End of story. As long as Mister Donut still exists (and Koji-san and Naoki-san, of course), there's always a reason to go back. :P

I'm glad to hear you like Japan so much. Yes, there are a lot of differences between there and here and they make us shocked at first, but we will be able to enjoy them sooner or later. At least, I believe the driving manner in Boston is better than that in Japan! Sorry for the Japanese foods, we can't eat them around Boston...

oh boy. i felt the same way when i got back to san fransisco from india and china. people here complain about the stupidest shit....and i was like, "oh javi...give it one week and ull sounds just like them." lol.
